Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment in our indoor and outdoor classrooms, and beyond. We believe in empowering children by offering opportunities for them to explore, create, imagine, learn, and grow through hands-on activities and experiences. We promote social, emotional, self-help, physical, and cognitive skills, while encouraging a lifelong love, respect, and understanding of nature.

What We Believe

Nursery school should be a positive experience. At North Side, we create a happy, secure place where children develop at their own pace. We emphasize emotional safety, joy in learning, and self-confidence through a hands-on, sensory-rich approach.

We encourage children to participate in a wide variety of experiences, but never insist. Cooperation is central to our philosophy; we avoid competition in the early years, supporting social development through shared activities and respectful relationships.

Our Learning Approach

North Side follows the Massachusetts Early Childhood Program Standards, offering developmentally appropriate learning that grows from the seasons and the world around us.

We integrate language, literacy, science, math, art, movement, and play into every day, but always in a way that honors the rhythms of childhood.
